Previously owned, in very good or better condition.
55.1mm x 35.6mm rectangle.
From my 93 year old mother's collection of mixed rare & vintage buttons & brooches
From a box marked Turtle & silver, containing this unique and obviously rare brooch.
Dark brown translucent turtle shell base, inlays of silver and mother of pearl.
There is no hallmark.
After an exhaustive search, I'm unable to determine the origin of this piece.
Possibly native American, possibly southwestern American or even Mexican.
Any help in identifying, would be appreciated.
The exact age is not known, I believe this could be from before 1970.
The pin closure on the back is bent slightly and could be straightened.
