This is a wonderful 19th century antique wooden flax hetchel comb board, in good condition with great patina. It is decoratively carved on the edges, dated 1858 and has the initials MPD. The board measures 25" long x 4 3/4" wide, weighs 3 1/4 lbs. and was purchased in Minnesota at a Norwegian farm estate sale. These tools were used to split, straighten, and clean flax fibers before being refined into a linen fabric. Perfect for use or display in a country home. Enjoy!
