Produced by P Production, this is a transformation action period drama, following the success of the previous work, "Kaiketsu Lion-Maru." In the Sengoku period, in order to protect Japan from the evil organization Mantle Clan, the ninja Dan Kagenosuke of Sagami Province confronts the Mantle Corps, but is killed by the Earthworm Ninja Corps. Just before his death, Kagenosuke entrusts his younger brother, Shishimaru, with the transformation ninjutsu "Lion Rocket Transformation." Shishimaru, along with Shino and Sankichi, siblings searching for their father in a covered wagon, continues their journey to defeat Mantle God, the leader of the Mantle Corps.

The series features ambitious attempts, such as a transformation situation reminiscent of the American film "The Rocketeer," the protagonist's costume and action inspired by Westerns, and the presence of the nemesis Black Jaguar, but it is undeniable that it feels like a self-remake of the previous work, "Kaiketsu Lion-Maru," which is a shame. The eerie presence of the villain characters, such as Mantle God, the leader, and Aguda, an executive of the Mantle Clan, leaves a strong impression. (Morihiko Saito)
