Vintage Loys Ruhlmann Betschdorf France Blue Salt Glazed Stoneware Butter Bell Cheese Strainer Dish
Loys Ruhlmann (1948-2021), who lived in Betschdorf, avillage in the Alsace region of France mainly dedicated to pottery, was one ofthe last potters to fire his creations over a wood fire. This piece is finelydecorated in blue over brown with a geometric flower motif. It is likely a butterbell or cheese strainer.
Lovely vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Assembled, it is about 3 1/2 tall and 4 wide. Engraved signature on the base says, Loys Ruhlmann Betschdorf.
