Rare 1930s-40s French Livery Vest - Backless Design - Red Wool and Rayon

This is a French livery vest (uniform vest) from around the 1930s-1940s.
It's a rare, one-of-a-kind piece believed to have been worn by staff in formal settings such as hotels and theaters.

I purchased it about 7 years ago from a reputable vintage clothing store in Osaka.
I think it's something that's hard to find.

It has a "backless" design, with a classic construction that fastens to the body with straps at the neck and waist.
The outer fabric is wool, and the lining is a lustrous rayon and cotton striped fabric.
This is a common construction found in high-quality vests of the time.

The metal buttons on the front are decorative dummy buttons, and the vest is actually fastened with a belt at the back.
This is a structure unique to French uniforms and stage costumes from the 1930s-40s.

Furthermore, the buckle on the waist belt is stamped with "PARIS," indicating that French-made parts were used at the time.
