RARE Antique Whiting & Davis Delysia Enamel Mesh Rouge Compact Purse
Fantastic Whiting & Davis compact purse. Black and white mesh enamel in chevron pattern. It has a clasp closure with a small cabochon sapphire. The purse is hinged and opens to reveal a mirror and the remnants of a rouge pot and powder puff(used). The section the rouge is in lifts up and is an open purse below. It has a black cord with adjustable silver toggle so it can be carried in the hand or worn on the wrist. On the bottom is has a black tassel. It is marked Whiting & Davis on the interior.
Overall the condition is quite good considering it is over 100 years old! The tassel is tangled and the rouge pot is missing a piece. I saw one small spot where the mesh was disconnected.
Total length including black cord is 13 1/2 inches.
