The legendary Soviet-made Helios-40 85mm f/1.5, famous for its "bokeh monster" effect. This is an early model from 1961, featuring silver chrome plating and a double-Gauss design with 6 elements in 4 groups. It's a rare model with the red "П" (Cyrillic P) marking indicating the coating. Despite being a vintage lens of approximately 65 years old, it is fully functional and the lens glass is exceptionally clean. M42 mount.

* It's undeniably large and has a tremendous presence (see image 8). It measures 8.2cm in diameter, 9.5cm in length, and weighs 942g. Originally a copy of the Zeiss Biotar 75mm f/1.5, it takes excellent photos (see sample images 9 and 10).

* It has an unusual 66mm filter thread, and three filters of that size are included. Also included are front and rear lens caps, and the original, slightly worn, genuine leather case.

* The Helios-40 is also famous for its incredible bokeh. According to various websites:
* One of the "bokeh monster" lenses. It offers a wide range of bokeh effects, making it fun and interesting to use.
* The swirly bokeh is amazing! It's almost dizzying.
* The use of swirly bokeh creates very beautiful expressions.

<Condition>
* Appearance: Shows some signs of use, but no scratches, dents, or peeling chrome, and is clean for a lens of approximately 65 years old (see images).
* Optics: Extremely clean. Like new. No scratches or dust, and only a little dust is visible in transmitted light. Amazing for such a large lens. The fact that it's in this condition after 65 years is likely due to the previous owner taking good care of it.
* Aperture: Both the preset ring and the aperture adjustment ring function smoothly and open and close. (The aperture adjustment ring turns easily, but makes a slight scraping sound.)
* Focusing Helicoid: Functions smoothly. There are some slightly stiff spots, but it doesn't affect use.

This is a listing for a lens sometimes described as the "Rarest Helios 40 85mm f/1.5 Red П M42 Bokeh Miracle." It's a valuable early model, with clean glass and the rare red "П" marking. Don't miss this opportunity.

Note: The included original genuine leather case appears to be for an L39 mount Helios-40, and the mount area doesn't fit perfectly, causing the case to bulge slightly. However, it's still better to have the case.

(The mount is M42. A Nikon F mount is used for the photos.)
