The brand name "Robes&Confections" originates from the name given to ready-to-wear clothing manufacturers in Europe when ready-made clothing first appeared. At that time, it referred to poorly made clothes, essentially off-the-rack garments worn by the lower classes. However, modern everyday clothing is based on these workers' clothes. Manufacturers at the time used all their ingenuity to gradually improve the functionality and quality of clothing, which underpins modern clothing.

Robes&Confections' collection pursues modern clothing based on a solid foundation of classic cutting and tailoring. Instead of focusing solely on design, they explore questions like, "What can we do now with a jacket, which was originally a functional garment for work?" From this perspective, they propose new everyday clothing.


【Robes&Confections Designer Profile】

The designer is Akira Tsuchiya. Born in 1969. Graduated from Kanagawa University in 1993 and from Bunka Fashion College's Apparel Design Department in 1996. After graduation, he worked as a pattern maker for Yohji Yamamoto. In 2003, he became independent, established MIKA Co., Ltd., and launched the women's wear brand "Robes&Confections".
