Set of seven antique hand painted Austrian porcelain dessert plates in a complex interwoven pattern of brick red, black and gold clearly modeled after a design by the Russian Kornilov Brothers. The Stara Role (Altrohlau) pottery works were established in 1810 by Benedict Haßlacher and manufacture was bought by Augustin Novotny in 1824. When the factory was financed by Moritz Zdekauer Bank in 1884, the MZ Austria marks (with the two headed eagle) were used. By 1909 the factory had changed hands so these can be dated 1884-1909. Backstamps in black, grey and green. About 6” diameter. In very good condition with minor pattern loss from age and wear. No chips, cracks, crazing.
