This is a William Howard Taft Panama-Pacific International Exposition souvenir spoon.
The text on the spoon commemorates the turning of the first spadeful of earth for the exposition by President William Howard Taft on October 14, 1911.
The Panama-Pacific International Exposition was a world's fair held in San Francisco in 1915 to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal.
The actual shovel used by Taft to break ground was made of gold and is now in a museum in San Francisco.
These items were produced as collectible souvenirs for the event and this was made by Shreve & Co Sterling Silver with a Gold Wash.
Measures about 4 inches long and 3/4 inch wide.
