U.S. Military Surplus
In the 1940s, during World War II, soldiers going to war had a custom of giving accessories to their families and lovers back home.
These were called sweetheart jewelry, and many featured designs of the soldiers' respective military branches, including rings, necklaces, bracelets, and brooches.
This is an ID plate-style bracelet.
It features the emblem of the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF), the predecessor to the U.S. Air Force.
Marked "STERLING".
Blank ID-style items like this are very rare, and it's likely this one has never been owned by anyone.
While there is some distortion and scratches on the clasp side of the ID, it's not in a state where it would come off. There are only minor blemishes and scratches, and there are no damages that would affect use other than age-related deterioration.
Total length: 19cm, ID: 3.5cm x 1.2cm
Other types of sweetheart jewelry are also available.
