U.S. Military Surplus
Coffee cup used in U.S. military hospitals and other medical facilities.
Carr China, founded in 1916, manufactured and sold tableware for hotels, restaurants, diners, and other general use, but was also known as a supplier of military tableware.
It reached its peak during World War II, but went out of business in the early 1950s due to financial difficulties.
A wine-red line is hand-painted on the handle.
This is a very rare piece.
The caduceus, the medical symbol, is also an old-style stamp.
Other mugs on sale have almost straight sides as the years go by, but this one has a shape called a flare bottom, with a shape in the center of the cup.
It seems that the machine-formed items were shaped by hand, which was time-consuming, so it was only supplied by some manufacturers for a short period of time.
The date code indicates that it is a 1951 product.
Height 9cm, diameter 8.5cm
There are no stains, scratches, or chips from use, and it appears to be unused, but aging is inevitable.
Please understand that this is a vintage item.
Medic plates and other types of cups are also on sale.
