VINTAGE 1930s Westclox Art Deco Black Bakelite Purse Watch w/Brass Dial - RUNS.
Up for sale is a stylish piece of Art Deco history: the Westclox "Handbag" or Purse Watch, originally introduced around 1933. Designed by George W. Blow and Simon de Vaulchier, this watch was intended to be carried in a purse or pocket rather than worn on the wrist. It features a sleek, button-like black Bakelite body with a striking gold-tone bezel and stylized numerals.
The watch winds and ticks and keeps perfect time.
●Case: The black Bakelite case retains its glossy shine. Please Note: There is a visible crack in the casing near the winding crown (see photos). This is a common age-related stress mark for this material but does affect the cosmetic perfection.
●Dial: The cream-colored dial is clean with legible "Westclox" branding. The distinct Art Deco hands are intact.
●Bezel: The gold-tone bezel shows signs of vintage wear and patina consistent with its age (nearly 90 years old).
