Circa 1940 hard-to-find transparent green with opalescent hobnail jar / bowl. It is seen in Whitmyer Fenton Art Glass Book, 1939-1980, Pattern No. 389, designed by the Fenton Art Glass Co. Prior to July, 1952, all hobnail patterns were identified using the "No. 389" pattern number. The lid is hard to find with these jars. Most were separated over the years or possibly broken. This jar does not have the lid. These large jars were only made 1 year, 1940-1941 according to Whitmyer. Hobnail was made in the darker green and introduced in July, 1961. This piece is very rare and Fenton called it "covered jar" in the book. This piece would make an excellent addition to your Fenton collection. It does have the "Glow" under black light. It measures 4" T x 6 1/2" W x 3 1/2" Dia opening and 3 1/4" Dia at the raised round base. The green opalescent color is exceptional and jar is without chips, cracks, scratches, or internal staining. Excellent collectible mint condition. Weight 1 lb. 9 oz.
