Wood is walnut or mahogany just not sure it is a hard and heavy wood.
Good size bowl for entertaining.

The price is nothing compared to the work this fellow had to do on the lathe. As someone who has turned wood it is a lot of work. An artist never makes back the hours put in. Poor guy would probably be heartbroken to see what the price is.
Really nice bowl and will look lovely filled with nuts for a party.
Or use as a bowl to place your keys and wallet in it.
